Incident: Armed Robbery

2120 Piney Creek Road
Chester, Maryland
Narrative: Sheriff R. Gary Hofmann reports that on August 24, 2011 at 1:47 a.m. the Queen Anne�s County Office of the Sheriff was dispatched to the Piney Creek Xtra Mart located at 2120 Piney Creek Road, Chester for an Armed Robbery that had just occurred. Queen Anne�s County Office of the Sheriff�s patrol units responded along with the Maryland State Police, Maryland Transportation Authority and Centreville Police Department K-9 unit to secure the crime scene and began an extensive search of the area. The Office of the Sheriff Criminal Investigations Unit was notified and responded to assume the investigation. Detective Sergeant Bruce Layton interviewed witnesses and watched the in store video surveillance camera and learned:
1:38 a.m. a small passenger car came down Piney Creek Road and pulled past the store parking east of the store.
1:41 a.m. two light skinned African American males walked from the north side of the store entering the exterior surveillance camera.
Male one is described as
� Approximately 5�9� tall
� Thin build
� Thin Beard
� Tattoo�s on both forearms
� Dark glasses
� wearing a oversized white and black tee shirt with thin gold colored writing
� Blue Jeans
� Dark Tennis Shoes
� Dark colored Baseball Cap
� Dark Semi Automatic Hand Gun he pulled from his right pants pocket.
Male two is described as
� Approximately 5�9� tall
� Thin build
� Wearing an long sleeve tan button down shirt
� Dark Blue pants with a Royal Blue stripe from the waist down to the ankle
� Blue and White Tennis Shoes
� White colored Baseball Cap
One males asked the clerk where the sodas where located and the clerk pointed to the back of the store. One male took a soda from the cooler and walked to the front register area. The male pulled a five dollar bill out of his pocket. The clerk entered the purchase and when the cash register drawer opened the male yelled, �Money give me the money! Leave the money!� The clerk then saw a black semi automatic handgun pointed at him. The male reached over the counter and pulled the cash till from the drawer. The male held the clerk at gun point while pulling the paper bills from the register. The other male assisted in removing the cash. The males then fled from the store in the same direction they enter from. Surveillance camera�s captured images of a small passenger car pulling onto the highway and proceeding west bound.
Sheriff Hofmann asked anyone with information to call Detective Sergeant Bruce Layton at 410-758-0770 extension 1212 or callers can remain anonymous and call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-756-2587.
