If you have walked down McHenny Court you'll have noticed the sign "Plover Nesting, Please Stay Clear". This morning we noticed that the fledglings have hatched. Unlike other birds, the Plovers, actually they are Kildare, part of the Plover family, walk away from the nest. as they hatch, they snuggle under the parent (both sexes take turns on the nest) periodically walking around for a few minutes. They don't stay long because of predators. They have left the immediate area of the nest now. Hopefully they come back next year. This is the 3rd year they have nested in that same location

Well seems we aren't the only ones that like Gibson's Grant! The Plovers are back at it and nesting once again. The sign is back up and expect the little ones to make an appearance in about 5 weeks.
