We continue to have our internet drop off during evening hours. We have had Atlantic Broadband here many times to try to fix the problem. After speaking with different technicians, they seem to agree that we have too many people on the same "node". With the recent growth in homes (users) at GG, they feel that Gibson's Grant should be on their own node. I wanted to see if other neighbors are having this issue. When we watch Netflix, its fine for a while then the internet drops and it goes into a buffering mode and sometimes will not come back on. Let us know through this forum if you are having similar problems, so we can band together and confront Atlantic Broadband to put us on our own node (or get Elm Street/Sentry involved on our behalf). We certainly pay enough money and it would be great if we had dependable service. Thanks for any feedback. Sue Tyng

Yes, we've been experiencing the same issues as you for the past month or so. We've had Atlantic out to service our router but it hasn't fixed the issue.

ABB is inconsistent at best. Not happy at all.

I've had network connectivity issues pretty much 1-2 times a month (when I have to manually restart TIVO to get the channel guide to reload) since I was first connected last January, and the couple times I tried to watch On Demand programming, the signal dropped out every 5-10 minutes so I've given up on even using that feature. If there's an opportunity to bring the situation to ABB's attention as a group, I'm happy to participate.

I've had problems with my internet speed for months now. They have been out three or four times to "fix" it. Today I was told there is a random "pulse of energy" disrupting the noise floor in our area, and they do not know where it is coming from, or what is causing it. I've chatted with my neighbors and it appears we are all having similar issues. I agree that we should schedule a meeting with ABB. If they do not take care of the problem there should be someone at the county that we can engage on our behalf.
To be clear, my issues happen pretty much every evening. ABB also told me today this problem seems to happen early in the morning and again in the evening!!! I'll let everyone draw their own conclusion on that bit of information.

So we got the same comment about the pulse energy. We were told someone was working on it but there was no timeline for us.

We are having the exact same problems. Have had multiple techs out with no luck. We lose connection every few mins on upstairs tv. Would love to have this remedied!! Another tech scheduled to come out tomorrow. Can't believe ABB hasn't picked up on this community wide issue earlier.

pertinent section from wikipedia "...bandwidth sharing technique which is employed to distribute bandwidth fairly, in order to provide an adequate level of service at an acceptable price. However, the operator has to monitor usage patterns and scale the network appropriately, to ensure that customers receive adequate service even during peak-usage times. If the network operator does not provide enough bandwidth for a particular neighborhood, the service can become sluggish if many people are using the service at the same time. Operators have been known to use a bandwidth cap, or other bandwidth throttling technique; users' download speed is limited during peak times..."
I'd be curious when the mystical "random energy pulse" occurs. Is it between 5pm-10pm? Unfortunately I don't know of any recourse. ABB is the only game in town.

We have been having the same issues and lose connectivity daily, more frequently at night but sometimes middle of the day. I have called ABB daily complaining as I work from home and its very challenging (and extremely frustrating). They told me the same thing after sending a tech out that its "node" and "noise" related and they've logged a ticket but have no timeline to identify the underlying issues or correct it. The tech did tell me the more complaints they get, the faster it usually gets responded to, so I encourage everybody with issues to keep calling it in!

We're on our second cable modem / router in 2.5 years and still have frequent 'pauses' in connectivity that last anywhere from a few seconds to ... well, alot longer. Not a happy customer.

We, too, have intermittent internet problems with ABB.
