I've reached out to the developer directly to address the broken chairs and missing umbrellas.
Please let me know if there is anything else.
Thanks.

Paul, Thank You for reaching out to elm street but this should have been taken care of prior to the pool opening as well as the pool being cleaned prior to opening by a professional company instead of the 1 hour only allowed to be done by the lifeguard. This is unacceptable.. We pay $$$ Plus in HOA Fees and for what ?? to cut our grass when it is 95 degrees outside to burn it. Elm Street (Mike) Please allow our pool to be cleaned properly and professionally for all of us to enjoy. The lawns to need to be cut but not when the heat will only burn and kill cut grass. Steve

Hello. This is our first summer in Gibsons Grant, and we are thrilled to live in the community. In talking to some of the other neighbors some of which are new as well, The idea of an adult swim has come up perhaps maybe one evening a week say from 5 PM to 8 PM. The pool could be closed to anyone under the age of 21. Those of us who do not have small children would be able to enjoy a couple hours at the pool with other people who don't have small children. The idea of an evening during the week perhaps Thursday would not impede on weekend fun for the children in the community.
Does anyone think that we would get support from Sentry to do this? Of course that would extend a lifeguard one hour during the week which is probably a very small price to pay for such an activity? How do we go about possibly putting something like this into action?

The pool is an ongoing problem that was supposed to be taken care of this year. Unfortunately it hasn't, opening day..........no heater on, pool is filthy and the lifeguard didn't have the combination to get into the pool. The baby pool still has a crack in it and keeps losing water. On Monday, June 22nd no lifeguard showed up until after 2:00 pm and only because I called Todd and told him there was no lifeguard. I called him at 12;45 and didn't get a lifeguard until after 2. And yes the pool chairs should have been fixed and the umbrellas replaced before opening day. Where is MANAGEMENT!!!!!

The HOA and the Developer are aware. I've worked to try and resolve most of them. They have bought some umbrellas and I believe the chairs are being fixed (is this correct?). The life guard thing happened last year with the previous pool company. I'm wondering if it's flakiness of the younger life guards (I'm omitting Nicole from the conversation because she is great).
As for the adult swim from 5-8. It's not Sentry that would make that decision. It would be the developer and they'd probably poll the community. I, personally, would not be in favor. It's a community pool and I believe we all should have access to it. If you are new to the community, you will find that by the middle/end of July there are many evening where there are no kids or only 1-2.

Hi! Like many of you, I am concerned about the pool. The quality of the furniture is poor, the chair cushions even have mold on them. In addition, there are not nearly enough chairs and tables to support the amount of people our neighborhood has.
Also, the tiles INSIDE of the pool are literally brown. I was a lifeguard growing up and know that it's the lifeguards job to clean these (all it takes is a little bit of ajax/comet and a sponge). I have asked two different lifeguards if they have plans on cleaning them and both told me no, that they "don't have the cleaning supplies" to do it. How do I reach out to the pool company to get this addressed? It's very unsanitary.
Looking forward to getting the whole pool situation straightened out so we can all enjoy it!

I reached out to Todd at Sentry once again. He stated just as Paul did that he had bought some new umbrellas. However over the holiday weekend there were only 2 new working umbrellas, one old umbrella and the umbrella that the life guard uses. Todd told me today that he has ordered more new umbrellas. I'm unsure if any of the broken chairs are being fixed - as at least one is still sitting broken over by the outdoor shower. I reached out to Todd this past winter to ask why much of the pool furniture was left outside - the pieces that didn't fit stuffed inside the pool restrooms. He stated the pool company was responsible to store the furniture inside out of the elements during the down season and that he'd get in touch with them. The furniture remained in the snow and other elements all year, thus causing much of the damage we are seeing now. Todd stated the developer would refinish the furniture before they turn over the HOA to us. Doubt that myself. Todd's email address is: twawrzeniak@sentrymgt.com

The pool situation is a joke. And the joke is on us. The cleaning, so called, was inadequate. The elements are gone or in poor condition. Just nothing but talk so far. Time to get on the issue with Todd at Sentry or Elm Street directly.

The latest on the pool. We asked the lifeguard a few days ago why the water was so cloudy. She said a pump had burst. I also noted a industrial fan and dehumidifier drying out the carpet in the gym for the past few days?

A filthy pool is a Health Department issue. Are there appropriate chlorine levels?

one call to the health dept and our pool will be shut down ! NO guard today and same for tomorrow! we had an algae bloom this week! for what we pay in HOA fees this is UNACCEPTABLE! have no idea if pump equipment is on at this point! the baby pool is leaking an half full! the developer should be ashamed! the company managing our development should be canned! the so-called pool company FIRED! Covell and Koch should be all over this if they are trying to sell homes too! we need a weekly cleaning service plus guards that have a pool operator cert. this is not hard work but we better get some honest answers about the pool, leaks, equipment status etc..

Yes, the pool is a problem. Who knew? A pool this size with a community this large? As someone else said, you need two people staffing it to assure compliance with homeowners only. Guests should be limited--paid for--with homeowner, etc. Collecting for guests would more than pay for a second person. We all have a stake in this re property values. Elm Street really needs to start over and build an adequate size pool in a different area large enough to accommodate a larger pool, more seating, two staffers, etc.
Demonstrate with signs (legally protected right). Just make sure to call the county and get proper permit. Make sure on public road. Call the media.........

Sorry - I disagree strongly:
1) I am *not* paying for another pool and the developer has no legal requirement to build a second pool
2) Outside of literally 2 days, this year, the pool was just about empty...even on the weekends. It looks like, despite all the complaining, that the poool is sufficient to meet the needs of the community.
3) I'd rather money spent on upkeep, that hasn't occurred.
4) The rules for guests are strict - but are not followed. We, as the community, should take an active stake in a) adhering to the policies b) notifying the HOA if there is an egregious violation c) working with our neighbors.
As for my part - rest assured, I will be working with Sentry/Mike this winter to ensure they are doing what they need to do make sure the pool is ready on opening day and operating in safe and clean environment.

Hi, We are new (July 2015) to GG and did not have time to use the pool this season but every time we walked by it seemed like there were quite a few people using the area. But if people don't use it, maybe it is because of the maintenance issues. We hope to use the pool next year so we do have an interest in getting the right people to maintain and secure it. I think before we consider a move toward building a new pool we should get this current situation corrected and maintained. If we don't, then we will just have a more expensive and bigger set of issues. Our 2 cents. Thanks!
