Kids Restaurant: Big Bats - the food is cheap, it's good, the staff is friendly, and the lots for the kids to look at and do.
Auto Repair: Western Auto and Island Imports. Western Auto has been friendly and relatively inexpensive. Good for general car repair. Island Imports tends to be fair and honest. They could have charged us a lot for our Toyota repairs and we would not have known the difference. Instead, they referred us to Toyota because they thought it might be a recall issue.
Adult Restaurant: Rustico - not a secret for those who know the island or have been here for awhile - but it is amazingly good. Their apple strudel is the best desert I've ever had (and I am a crazy crazy choc-o-holic).
Coupon Savings - Midshoresavings.com. Seriously - check it out. Coupons for everytime you go to K-Mart. Special $75 of coupon for Best Buy. Pretty Amazing.
Local Pizza - Carini's. New York Style, sauce isn't sweet. Perfect. STAY AWAY FROM CLASSIC. The owner and staff has been less than pleasent on numerous occassions.
Garden/Nursery - Lowes Nursey on Love Point Road. Friendly and local.
Daycare - Kiddie Academy. We've used both Kiddie Academy and Stepping Stones. And honestly, we liked both. Kiddie Academy has longer hours, a few in the community already go there, and have an extremely robust summer program for the kids.
Daycamp - Camp Wright. Simply awesome.
Taxes - Jackson Hewitt, Chester Md - They are fast, friendly, and not expensive. For most, the price of Turbo Tax and two electronic filings puts you in the ballpark of JH. They can probably save a you a few dollars to make up the difference.
House Cleaning - Bay Breeze Cleaning. Amy and her staff are phenomenal. So good, she is typically fully booked. Her price might be slightly higher...but the quality goes beyond that difference (how many cleaners get on their hands and knees to clean your floors?). They are honest and when they think they may have even slightly broke something - they will let you know.
We try to buy/shop local as much as we can. If anyone has good local recommendations (i.e. not Ace, Kmart, or Safeway..we'd love to hear)
