Hi Everyone! If your house loves the holiday as much as we do it is never too soon to get started on plans for Halloween. Last year the neighbors organized a costume party for the kids and did a porch decorating contest. This year I suggest we do something bit different– haunted alleys. We could select some of the main alleys in the neighborhood and collectively decorate them/haunt them for the kids to trick or treat through. We could wrap up everything at the pavilion if the weather is okay. I don’t want to move the holiday but this event would probably be more fun if we do it on Saturday, October 29. Would allow for more time to set up and not worry about school or activities. The kids could still go house to house on the 31st…..you can never get to much candy I suppose.
Thoughts? Anyone want to join me in planning a fun Halloween for the neighborhood and kids?
Thanks, Heather Z.

Hi everyone! An email flyer was recently sent out to gather interest on those wanting to participate. If you didn't get it (the dist list is probably out of date), please let us know. The plan so far is to create a map of scary stops for the kids, and then have a dance party at the end, either at someone's house or the pavilion.
We are going to have a planning meeting soon for those wanting to participate.
Thanks! Liz Sann

Thank you everyone who has graciously volunteered to make this a happy and fun Halloween for the GG community.
On Saturday, October 29th kids of all ages are invited to dress up in their costumes and visit enchanted gardens, spooky porches, and haunted backyards through the neighborhood. We will distribute flyers with a map to guide you and your family on a spooktacular evening. The night will end with a community party at the pavilion (barn) so everyone can celebrate and dance the night away. So if you haven’t done so yet, mark your calendars! Everything will kick off at 6 PM.
***traditional trick-or-treat will be on Oct. 31. We will NOT be handing out candy on Sat.**
If you would still like to help out please email me at heatherzeitlin@yahoo.com.

Also, we are rounding up some "scarers" to hide along the walking paths and surprise the kids as they are going from house to house. Please email me at lizsann@gmail.com if you are willing to volunteer!
Most of you have gotten the map for the course. Just an FYI that the Sann/Doyle garage is rated "R" and will be very fun for adults. Children under 12 will not be able to enter without a parent with them. Adults should definitely come by to experience it!
Also, will have adult and kid beverages at the barn and 'pit stops' along the walking path so everyone can refresh their beverages. If anyone would like to contribute a punch or festive drink (adult or kid), please let Heather or me know.
Lastly, we want to have creepy music playing throughout the neighborhood, so we encourage anyone with outdoor speakers or cd players to have them on during the event. This will be extra fun for when the streets are full of kids!
This is definitely an event for adults and kids so please, please, come out and join us! The night will begin at the barn at 5:30 pm. Kids (and adults) will be wearing their costumes.
Any additional info/ideas are welcome. Less than a week to go!!!!
Liz

Please know I am so bummed we will be missing this fantastic Halloween adventure! Bob's father's 80th birthday was a few days before our wedding so his family asked if we can get together to celebrate his birthday on this very night! The family party will be at our place but we will miss the wonderful event you have all put together. Best of luck to you all putting the Halloween event together! We won't miss it next year!
Please know that we WILL be handing out candy on Halloween night! Please bring your children by to trick or treat since we will have much candy for the kids and (glass of wine for any adults who may be thirsty).
