There are several great outdoor venues for taking in a drink on the island. Here is a quick list:
5) Kent Island Yacht Club - you do have to be a member, but they own some of best real estate on the island with great views of Eastern Bay. They constructed a new Tiki Bar this year to add to their outdoor grill. Couple that with a pool, and it's a great all day location.
4) Cappy's Tiki Bar - This is located at the Crab Deck. It is Brand new this year. The view isn't the best, but it is on a dock and doesn't seem to get terribly crowded. Good alternate for a quiet Tiki experience.
3) Red Eye's Dock Bar - I submit they have the best entertainment on the island (no, I am not talking about the bikini's on Sunday) - but music. Their location on the Narrows is not overly exciting. However, It's energetic and a 'hip' place to hang-out. The best part is watching what I call 'ego dock' as Pilots of very expensive boats try to dock their new boats. Plenty of bars to get drinks, palm trees, and lots of seating.
2) Big Owl Tiki Bar - Not much of a secret, but a great tiki bar on the south side of the Kent Narrows. Always a nice breeze, great island type music with the occassional B-List music celebrity. It's got a great feel and 'Big Al' is always around. Band plays with their back to the water, and provides a nice ambience.
1) Dirty Dave's Tiki Bar (@kentmorr Restaurant) - Still slightly unknown as it's brand new this year - but everyone knows Kentmorr (apparently, expect Nicole and I until recently). Let's see - a 'real' tiki hut, sand, buffett-esque music, huge hammocks, right on the bay, and the most amazing sunsets on the island. Add it up and you may agree with us and even our friends who say it feels like you really are in the islands. The downside? It's a bit of a drive down Route 8..especially after having several drinks. But, the atmosphere can't be beat.
